27. 01. 03  SHERBURN  CESNA 150 1 HOUR

Weather: Very very windy, gusts up to 30 mph.

Did one circuit and it was really worrying and turbulent, sweaty palms and having to really hang on to the plane, kind of like being on a roller coaster, sudden drops in turbulance / air pressure, but still you have to be in control of the plane. After one circuit Jane asked if I wanted to carry on, i said yes for the experience, not realising we would do more than one extra circuit. Jane doesnt think I learnt much but i feel kind of happier knowing what bad weather is like, and that i kind of coped in a strong wind. Buildings etc around teh airfield create so much turbulence that you get wierd pockets where you suddenly drop, and get thrown around by the wind. Its the first time i've been scared by the weather and by flying but it made me concentrate so hard it felt much more embodied because of the risk. Maybe it is the risk that makes me want to do it?

Must to more digital flying. GPS still not back from being fixed.
